Parsec - Co-op Multiplayer Cloud Gaming
Review (WIP)
Core 2 Duo 3.0 Ghz
2x2 GB of Zion 800 Mhz Ram
Nvidia Geforce GTX 550 Ti
Redgear Pro Wireless Gamepad
I have become fond of my Redgear Pro Wireless Gamepad. I can post the review of it later. So yesterday I was thinking about playing some latest games that will put my controller to put use and then came the idea of Cloud Gaming.
The way Cloud Gaming works is that the latest and some older games are installed on the company's server computers. Those computers are equipped with the latest and modern hardware and software for which a common folk if wants to upgrade will run into $ 1000 to $ 2000. Those hardware of those computers process the game and the video of the output will be sent back to the user to watch. But it's a game so the user is given input controls which will be sent to the remote computers.
There are few players in the market including the most popular Geforce Now (which is in waitlisted beta right now), LiquidSky, Vortex, etc. Except Geforce Now all of those are paid services with no trial play option. For me I was looking for a quick and easy way to try out without spending a dime. Then I came across Parsec which touted itself as a way to play local co-op games via the Internet. So the host will install the game, pay for the service and will then look for the other player on the Internet. I was apprehensive at first but I got comfortable with the interface after a while though it still needs work.
Interface
The interface is quite simple and akin to Steam. The controller support acts like a mouse which is a bit slow compared to a mouse but effective. I had problems with scrolling the page though. The interface is not well optimized for use with a controller like Kodi interfaces.Settings
