Travel journal of my latest tour
Day - 1 17.10.19
"In anticipation of something new excitement arose"
It's heard already to write this travel journal while being in train. My day has started much before anyone else as I left for work yesterday, worked the entire night, and in the morning around 10:30 I took a shared cab and left for Howrah railway station.
The purpose of this trip was to start our journey from Lucknow and eventually reach Haridwar while covering few other places on the way.
While on cab I passed by the ever famous "Nakul & Girish Chandra" - the iconic sweet shop among Kolkatans. Alas it still remained just a glimpse. Shortly afterwards, the punchy and raw smell of the masalas woke me up in a frenzy only to remind me that I entered Burrabazar, a trader's place complete with snarling traffic and desperate me alone in a cab. The standstill traffic was the perfect moment for the cab driver to remind me that I should regret for taking a shared cab while I need to catch a train (fare price optional). Nonetheless I was my usual self, that is not giving a damn.
I had to give a damn.
Upon reaching the railway station (which mind you is the most busiest and the largest railway station in India), I was shocked to find out that my train was CANCELLED!!! :( Yup! You heard it right! Kumbha express got cancelled. When I first heard it over the phone from my sister I thought it must be some kind of a sibling joke, knowing her though that wasn't the case, and the immediate thought was "What the hell am I going to do now???".
Except it wasn't as dramatic as such as I was accompanied by my parents and two other families (one extra family to be exact the other one was single - FOREVER SINGLE!!!
to be continued ...
I was on the verge of giving up that the whole trip might be cancelled but on the other hand I always had faith in my father for getting things done. He has this knack of not giving up in the face of an adversity and I guess that's what makes him special.
Two men approached us seeing the look on our faces when we were done asking the same questions at the Enquiry office.
